That’s One BIG Fish

In Fishing, Outside the Park

You probably don’t think of Yosemite and “world class angling” in the same sentence. But check out this 17.4lb fish caught just a few miles up the road from Yosemite?

John Liechty, of Angels Camp, caught this monster 17.4lb largemouth bass in New Melones Reservoir about an hour north of Yosemite. Liechty’s catch was the second-largest ever brought in at Melones.

If you’ve never been up to Melones it makes a great day trip and I can vouch after having fished there many times, even if you don’t have a boat and can only fish from shore the fishing is still great.

NICE fish, John! Congratulations! You can read the rest of the story about this monster bass at UnionDemocrat.com.
