Ever wondered what it’d be like to climb The Nose of El Capitan?
At least one person was killed over the weekend in one of two rockslides Sunday on El Capitan. The fatal slide occurred about 9 a.m. The person killed was apparently climbing the south face of the iconic stone. A second rockslide occurred about seven hours later, according to witnesses.
Yosemite National Park Rangers and Search and Rescue Personnel were called in to assist a climber on El Capitan Monday after he was forced to spend the night on El Capitan in a snow storm.
Perhaps the most breathtaking part of climbing Half Dome via the cables isn’t the steep climb up, but the wonderful views you get climbing down.
If you were in Yosemite Valley yesterday morning just before 6AM you may have noticed the large crowds of onlookers staring up at El Capitan. What was all the fuss about? Two of the worlds greatest climbers, Hans Florine and Alex Honnold were attempting to set a new speed record for climbing The Nose of El Capitan.
Mount Starr King is one of those destinations that many visitors to Yosemite don’t often try to tackle. But it’s a great climb if you’ve got the time. Check out this really great video of climbing Mount Starr King.
