The other day Tony Immoos dropped by my office on his way into the park to bring me a present, a wonderful framed print of a photo I‘ve long admired that Tony took. While we were talking he got to telling me about how he’d noticed a particular event that takes place every year about this time and how he was on a mission to capture that event with his camera.
“Tony: For a few days around the 1st of May in Yosemite NP, the sun rises in the gap between Half Dome and Washington Column and for just a couples minutes the small aspen grove in Ahwahnee Meadow is backlit by the sun while most of the meadow is still in shade. I first saw this occurrence in the timelapse at halfdome.net two years ago and I was able to capture it this year. “
