Ferguson Fire Still Raging But Yosemite Valley Set to Reopen

Update: Yosemite Valley will remain closed at least through Sunday, August 5th. The park will continue to assess conditions and reevaluate all closures on Sunday, August 5. Yosemite Valley will NOT be reopening as previously posted on August 3rd. This is due to increased fire activity and heavy smoke in the area.

Yosemite Valley will tentatively reopen to all visitors at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 3, 2018. Limited services will be available for visitors to Yosemite Valley, including campgrounds, lodging, and food service operations.

Currently Yosemite Valley, Highway 140 from Mariposa and Highway 41 from Oakhurst, the Glacier Point Road, El Portal and surrounding areas, Hite’s Cove, Yosemite West, the Mariposa Grove and all campgrounds along 140 and 41 inside Yosemite National Park remain closed due to the Ferguson Fire.

The Hetch Hetchy area remains open, Big Oak Flat Road (Highway 120 West) to Crane Flat and Tioga Road (Highway 120 East) from Crane Flat to Tioga Pass remain open to all visitors and vehicles. All trails and campgrounds along Tioga Road, including the Tuolumne Meadows Campground remain open. All visitor services along Tioga Road, including the High Sierra Camps and visitor services near Tuolumne Meadows remain open.

Heavy smoke and smokey conditions exist throughout the region. Visitors with a history of respiratory conditions should use caution when entering the area.
