A Winter Weather Advisor has been put into affect for Yosemite National Park and the surrounding region with a chance of snow down to 2000′. Yes, that means there’s a possibility of snow in Yosemite Valley for Thanksgiving.

..WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO 4 PM PST WEDNESDAY ABOVE 2000 FEET…

* HAZARD TYPES…ACCUMULATING SNOW ALONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND COLD TEMPERATURES.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…1 TO 5 INCHES. LOWEST ACCUMULATION NEAR 2000 FEET SOUTHERN FRESNO COUNTY WITH GREATEST AT 4000 FEET IN MARIPOSA COUNTY. 5 TO 11 INCHES. GREATEST ACCUMULATION IN YOSEMITE PARK WITH LESSER AMOUNTS IN KINGS CANYON.

* TIMING…SNOW BEGINNING AT 4000 FEET IN MARIPOSA COUNTY AROUND MID AFTERNOON THEN SPREADING SOUTH WITH LOWERING SNOW LEVEL DURING THE EVENING.

WINDS…SOUTHWEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 55 MPH
ESPECIALLY OVER RIDGES AND HIGHER TERRAIN.

* TEMPERATURES…30-35 AT 4000 FEET…20-25 ABOVE 8000 FEET.
