Yosemite Emails Confuse Thousands

dnc

If you received a received a confusing email from DNC Parks & Resorts, you weren’t alone.

About 3,300 people received an e-mail from a Yosemite National Park vendor this week telling them their summer lodging reservations were in danger because of an October landslide.

The e-mail, though, was meant to go out only to about 750 people, said Kenny Karst, public relations manager for DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite.

Park officials weren’t prepared for the onslaught of calls, leaving many stuck on hold needlessly for a long time, if they got through at all.

I got that e-mail and panic pretty much ensued. I booked my reservations for this May about a year ago. So I called the number listed in the e-mail and I was on hold for nearly a hour. The reservations gal told me my reservation was fine and I told her the wording of the e-mail had pretty much told me I was screwed, she apologized and that was that. Wasted a good portion of my morning that day on hold but I am glad I am still set to visit in May.
