Yosemite Closed

Yes, you read right. Yosemite is closed. Roads are blocked and unsafe due to large amounts of snow and falling tree limbs. If you’re headed up to the park please CALL ahead of time at (209) 372-0200 for up to date road conditions. Right now all traffic is being turned away at the park entrances.

Locals may return to Yosemite Valley via a convoy starting at Yosemite View Lodge between the hours of 1 and 3pm today. After 3 the convoys will stop. Guests are not being allowed to enter the park at this time.

Guests in Yosemite Valley can leave via the same convoy between the hours of 1 – 3pm today. The convoy starts at Camp 4. Chains are required on all cars entering or leaving the park via the convoy.

No word on reopening the roads at this time but there are reports of crews trying to clear the roads. It is still snowing at this time.

Holy cow. When was the last time Yosemite was entirely closed? The (’89?) flood?

Wow! I was just checking the Valley cams and it didn’t look too bad. I was going to head up tomorrow, but this puts a different spin on those plans….

It seems that the condition is very severe. Take care, every body.
