Yosemite Campground Reservations Available Starting March 15th

Been thinking about going camping in Yosemite this summer? Recreation.gov, the national park services reservation site, will begin taking reservations for guests who want to be sure they’ll have a spot when they arrive at their campground this month.

Starting March 15th at 7 a.m. you’ll be able to start reserving sites for the July 15th – August 14th summer camping season. Campgrounds available for reservations will be: Bridalveil Creek Group and Horse Camp, Crane Flat, Hodgdon Meadow, Lower Pines, North Pines, Tuolumne Meadows, Upper Pines, and Wawona.

Login in early because reservations will be first come – first served.

For more information check out recreation.gov or the yosemite campground information page for a list of campgrounds and dates..

Did they already go up? If so I’d bet they’re already all gone. I had trouble getting them in the first hour or so last year. Hopefully they’ll open up for the end of August.

Update: My sister tried to get camping reservations in the valley and had a lot of trouble getting through. They tried with three cellphones and 1 person on-line and ended up only getting one campsite that was too short for our folding trailer (12ft limit when the trailer is 19ft long). I hope we are able to get some sites next summer.

May 28th, so at this late date any chance of finding a place to park a trailer at Yosemite? We just bought our first trailer (26′) and would love to spend our 30th anniversary there the weekend of June 20th. Any advice?

Campsite reservations in Yosemite is an absolute joke. My wife’s grandfather has stayed in Yosemite for 2 weeks every summer for the last 53 years. This year he’s 90, and we were unable to get any Upper or Lower Pines campsites.

Every year in March the entire family (upwards of 20 people) gets on its Lan phones, cell phones and computers to reserve campsites. Some of us do all three – I literally dial with two phones and hit the website for 2 hours, to no avail.

I don’t have a solution, but there must be a better way. Realizing not everyone who wants to stay in Yosemite can – there simply aren’t enough campsites for all those who ‘think’ they want to camp 6 months out. I have to think some sort of lottery system would be preferable. It would at least save me and the family a few grueling hours each every March (40 hours among the 20 of us).

I’m really saddened that my wife’s grandfather will miss his 54th consecutive year, during his 90th year of existence, being in his most treasured place on earth. 🙁

And of course we are all going to miss being there with him.
