World’s First Photo Wasn’t of Yosemite *GASP!*

In 1826, French scientist Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, the worlds first photograph. Titled View from the Window at Le Gras the photo was shot at his family’s country home of a courtyard and outbuildings seen from the house’s upstairs window—by exposing a bitumen-coated plate in a camera obscura for several hours on his windowsill.

Does anyone else see an Imperial Star Destroyer in this photo or is it just me?

    Last winter we ran a Monday night trivia game and one section was devoted to identifying photographs, we used this one. Funny to see it show up here on the Yosemite blog. BTW, nobody knew it for what it was, but they do now!
