Thinking About Hiking Around Hetch Hetchy? Think Again.

If you were thinking about doing some hiking in the Hetch Hetchy area, maybe around back to Wapama Fall, you should probably start coming up with an alternate plan now. Pictures have emerged of the trail to Rancheria Falls (beyond Wapama Falls) that has been closed since late October. Evidently the violent storms we had caused a big enough surge in the stream that the water absolutely destroyed the trail bridge. Not an easy feat because the bridge was made out of metal but water, like my wife, can be a strong persuader.

There’s no projected opening date and from looking at the photo, you can understand why.
