The Oystergate Scandal

Here’s an interesting video about the Point Reyes Oyster Farm Scandal that took place while Neubacher was there. I’m a little disappointed the website doesn’t have any credibility by citing who made it, who endorses it, or even who made the video. There’s no way to tell if the people in the video were properly represented and not taken out of context.

Update: Nicole commented to say, “I produced the video and was present for the taping of all the participants. They were not taken out of context. My bad for not putting this info on the site.”

Thanks Nicole for clearing that up.

I just checked that out…they do list a person that made it…you might have to click the button for the second page, but I do remember seeing it…

I posted the Oystergate Scandal. I produced the video and was present for the taping of all the participants. They were not taken out of context. My bad for not putting this info on the site. It is there now.

Nicole has not cleared up anything and has not provided any useful information for the viewer. The video is a one sided hit piece with no attribution with only the oyster company advocates interviewed. No references or documentation are provided for the views presented. Honorable and honest public servants are attacked in an unscrupulous manner. The park service employees are not error free, but nobody should be treated in such an unfair matter. It would be informative to know who funded the attack.

All who would like the new superintendent of Yosemite National Park to be a strong, stalwart defender of the natural environment, should rejoice that Don Neubacher is the new superintendent. Don and I were on the board of the [West Marin] Environmental Action Committee in the early-mid 1980s when Don was the assistant superintendent. At that time only a few had the vision to see the possibility of the Giacomini Ranch restored as the wonderful marsh it is today. Don’s leadership helped make this vision real–come and visit. Despite the ugly name calling taking place today as we here in West Marin debate the rival goods of a great oyster producer and the very needed protection for marine environments that the proposed wilderness area in the Point Reyes National Seashore can offer, Don Neubacher has been a steady, thoughtful force for good and is not the person that this hit piece implies.

I would have to disagree with Michael Mery, it is well documented that the National Park Service falsified data in order to promote their own agenda. It is unfortunate that Mery choses to defend liars.
