School Buses Crash in Yosemite

Just got this from the National Park Service. Two school buses from Yolo Middle School in Newman collided in a rear end collision about a mile north of the El Portal Road/Big Oak Flat Road intersection.

Forty children were on board the two buses. Injuries are being described as minor to moderate. The children were transported by ground ambulance to John C. Fremont in Mariposa to make sure they were ok. The cause of the collision is unknown but the investigation is pending.

Actually I can verify the John Muir Trail is open from Clark Point to Nevada Falls. I was coming down the Panorama Trail on Saturday May 3 from Glacier Point. At the intersection with JM, the gate was locked so I went down the Mist Trail (with a nice sleet storm at the top of Nevada Falls.) On the way down passed three rangers who said they were on their way up to open up the trail.

By the way, will submit some photos for photo of the day. It was cool being one of the first people to hike the Panorama Trail of the season. Ill..Falls was picturesque.
