    September 18, 2007

Just checked the weather. Looks like there’s a strong chance for early season SNOW above 8,000 ft. this weekend. This is the earliest I’ve seen snow in a while. Plan accordingly if you’re going backpacking or plan to traverse the Sierra via Tioga Pass.

    September 17, 2007

Today’s Photo of the Day is another pic from my wife, Tania. It’s a great photo and I really like it but I’d have loved to use this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rvaughn/454697688. Unfortunately I don’t have permission so I’ll just post a link. Both are great shots though. Nice job Robert. Photo by Robert Vaughn via Flickr.

    September 17, 2007

I’ve received word from contacts at the National Park Service that the overdue hiker was found in the vicinity of Taft Point this morning where he’d become disoriented and had been wandering for the last few days. He’s in good condition and doing OK.

The Modesto Bee: “Park rangers took the rare step of calling a large-scale search and rescue mission Sunday as they continued hunting for…

Now I know I know this lake but I don’t remember which it is. The peaks in the background are pretty easy to recognize. Name or no name though, I thought this made for a really cool Photo of the Day. Nice work Carl. Photo by Carl Uebelhart via Flickr.

Today’s Photo of the Day is another “strong suggestion” by my wife and I have to agree it’s a great shot. Hey I’m not going to argue with a pregnant lady. All kidding aside it’s a really awesome shot. Great shot Randy Photo by Randy January via Flickr.
