Junction Fire Update – Highway 41 Open

Firefighters made significant progress today. Aggressive firefighting, in addition to lower temperatures, a rise in humidity and less wind have provided an opportunity to increase containment lines. Firefighters from throughout the central valley and the state have been deployed to defend homes in the area.

Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for Highway 41 and all areas west of Highway 41, except Road 620. Roads east of Highway 41 remain closed and evacuations remain in effect.

The fire has burned more than 612 acres and is 35% contained.

Weather today in Oakhurst is expected to be dry and warm with westerly winds between 7 and 10 mph.
