Seriously, when I saw this photo ‘Ants Marching’ by Dave Mathews Band suddenly sprang into my head and I couldn’t stop humming it. That’s STILL a lot of people on the cables even with the permit system. Maybe the solution isn’t limiting how many people can climb the cables to the top of Half Dome, but limiting the number of people who can be on the cables at any one time OR making the cables safer. Maybe a harness and carabiner rig or something. Ooh, and helmets.
