El Capitan is Crumbling. We need to fix it now!

I saw this video clip this morning from CBS This Morning and it kind of irked me. The assertion in the title is that El Capitan is “crumbling”. Crumbling is often used to best describe man-made items of infrastructure like bridges and highways that are falling apart. The title is completely misleading. It almost seems like CBS making the implication that El Capitan is a piece of infrastructure that is in disrepair. That the mountain is falling down and will soon be gone. The rockfall may have seemed huge to us, but to the mountain it was akin to losing an eyelash.

I think at best CBS is guilty of trying to mislead and incite it’s audience and link baiting web visitors for page views. The event was tragic enough without trying to start a public panic or incite anger. Personally I think it’s kind of despicable. What do you think? Comment below or on Facebook.

The overall video compilation about the recent rockfalls in Yosemite isn’t bad but just that one part from CBS is irksome. Here’s a link to the video at the moment the lower 3rd with the implication of El Capitan crumbling if you’re interested.

Nature is constantly evolving. It always will. How stupid could someone be to say we need to fix it. Sounds like something someone who doesn’t understand the natural world. It gets along fine without us.

Typical media. Sensationalize everything. On the subject of the rockfall, I’m not aware of anyone mentioning the fact that the rockfall was in full view of the inspiration point web cam. Maybe I just missed it. But I watched it today…. WOW!
