Clouds Fire Burning By Half Dome and John Muir Trail

The Clouds Fire just off the John Muir trail near Half Dome and Moraine Dome is currently 3/4 of an acre. The fire appears to have been caused by visitors and, in keeping with NPS policy, will be suppressed. No trail closures at this time. Trail monitors are in place to monitor the fire’s growth. Two helicopters are providing support on the fire

Boy is this is wrong. I was there at 8 am Monday. We were turned back by a ranger at the Little Yosemite Valley / JMT trail junction at the start of the switchbacks. NO hikers allowed up Half Dome trail. They feared it would spread west and trap hikers. So no Half Dome hikes until it got under control at 1:30. Too late for a safe hike.
