Ansel adams yosemite high sierra book

Got some down time? Need something to do while you’re waiting for your husband at the dentist office? Grab these books and add them to your library.

Yosemite and the High Sierra by Ansel Adams
The iconic photographs by Ansel Adams this book is a must have for any Yosemite lover.
The Photographer’s Guide to Yosemite
Michael Frye’s book has long been on our library shelves, in our car and in our packs. It’s full of great information on what to shoot in Yosemite, learning about your camera and when to go to Yosemite.
Spectacular Yosemite
I love this book. I’m one of those people that believe there’s always something new to see in Yosemite and this book proves my point.
Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite
This book should be mandatory reading (and there should be a quiz) for any visitor to Yosemite. It’s not morbid but it’s a great history of tragedy in Yosemite and how you can avoid making the same mistakes others have made.
Four Seasons of Yosemite: A Photographer’s Journey (Includes DVD, Yosemite: The Fate of Heaven, narrated by Robert Redford)
This book is awesome just because you get Robert Redford’s The Fate of Heaven on DVD with the book. I still have my copy on VHS.
Shattered Air: A True Account of Catastrophe and Courage on Yosemite’s Half Dome
If you’re thinking about hiking Half Dome and you haven’t read this story yet, you should. Read it before your next trip. Read it over and over. It’ll have you on the edge of your seat and the fact that it’s true, might just help you avoid a similar tragedy.
One Best Hike: Yosemite’s Half Dome
Rick Deutsh is another fried of Yosemite Blog and a great guy. His guide to Hiking Half Dome is easily one of the best out there and you should definitely read it before you even think about getting your permit to do the hike. It covers what to expect, what to take and how to survive on the trail. It’s a great guide and Rick recently updated it. Definitely add it to your library.
Yosemite: The Promise of Wildness
Put this book on your coffee table and it’ll be the most picked up book by all your guests.

Yosemite Valley Railroad (Images of Rail)
Before there were cars and buses many visitors to Yosemite made the trek from Merced on the train. This is a great pictorial history and definitely one you’ll love to have in your collection.

Railroads of the Yosemite Valley
The other book on Yosemite trains this one tells you the stories and the history of the lines and mines that served the park. Any train buff will love this and it’ll make their next visit to the park really spectacular.
