Do you know anyone who rode on the historic Yosemite Railroad before it’s demise in 1945? An aunt or your grandma maybe? Passengers of the historic railway line are being sought for a celebration of the railroads centennial set to take place in El Portal this weekend.
MyMotherLode.com: “Passengers who have traveled on the Yosemite Valley Railroad, which ceased operations in 1945, are being sought for a centennial commemoration scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday.
The town of El Portal has been able to accumulate extensive memorabilia for the celebration, but is having a difficult time finding individuals with personal recollections about the trains. ‘We want to have people at the centennial who can provide first hand accounts of the Yosemite Valley Railroad experience,’ says author Jack Burgess.
‘Yosemite Valley Railroad passengers will be our celebrities for the weekend,’ adds event organizer Sunshine Goodmorning.”
Passengers wishing to participate should call event organizer Sunshine Goodmorning at 209-379-2577.
