Connecting Two Great Valleys: Yosemite and the San Joaquin

Daydreaming about your next Yosemite getaway? Well don’t wait – get a feel for what’s happening in the park these days, reconnect with fellow Yosemite-philes, and learn more about the vital connection between Yosemite and the San Joaquin Valleys at this special Fresno gathering!

We cordially invite Yosemite Association members and friends to celebrate Two Great Valleys at a reception on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Arte Américas, 1630 Van Ness, Fresno, CA 93721 (on the corner of Van Ness and Calaveras Streets in the Cultural Arts District of downtown Fresno). Ample parking is available.

You’ll meet award-winning author Gerald Haslam along with Yosemite Park Superintendent Mike Tollefson and Association board and staff while you enjoy the inspiring exhibits of leading Latino artists. The Fresno Bee listed Haslam’s The Other California: the Great Central Valley in Life and Letters as one of the seven best books on the Central Valley.

Book sales and signing will follow. Appetizers and beverages will be served. We thank Redwood Creek and American Park Network for their generous assistance with this event.

RSVP by February 22 to 209-379-2317 or lrematore@yosemite.org. Bring a friend who becomes a member at the event and you’ll both receive a free gift!

Hi, I just came across your blog while searching for information on winter camping in Yosemite. I’m planning a winter camping trip to Yosemite in March and would appreciate any information about locations, best hiking trails, permits, etc…that you could offer. I would sincerely appreciate your advice. Thank you.
