After Steve Jobs passed Apple changed it’s naming scheme from cats to geographical locations starting with the famed California surf spot, Mavericks. A banner being hoisted in Moscone Center where Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference and a press conference about the latest offerings by Apple will be held next week clearly show iconic Yosemite landmarks. Is this the year of Apple OSX 10.10 Yosemite? Maybe. Apple has traditionally used Yosemite images in their press and used Yosemite names in their hardware schemes.

Apple has about as much to do with surfing as they do with Yosemite. Naming their systems after the real finer things in life isn’t going to change what the company really represents, though I suppose it might in the imagination of Apple fans. I think they should name their OS’s after wines, as there are a lot of similarities between their marketing philosophy and the “wine tasting” crowd.
Apple OSX “Chardonnay” sounds about right, and there are plenty more for when they want their users to plunk down more $$ for the new one.
Pretty cool news coming from Apple. May have a Yosemite OS! http://t.co/z0oEIV3PYw via @THEYosemiteBlog
