Time For A Little Clean Fun

Hey everyone. It’s time again to help out our friends over at the Yosemite Climbing Association with their annual Yosemite-wide Cleanup. This is your chance to do something good for the park and have some great fun in the process.

“From Wednesday September 27th to Sunday October 1st, the Yosemite Climbing Association with help from Wilderness Climbing Management will once again coordinate a Yosemite-wide cleanup. Our goal is an extensive cleaning of roadways, the river Merced river corridor, trials, parking areas, campgrounds, and lodging areas.

We will be meeting in front of the Visitor Center between 8:00am and 5:00pm to sign in, pick up trash bags, and grab littersticks. At the end of each day all the trash will be brought back for weighing and sorting by 5:00pm.

Last year, 600 participants donated 4,696 hours, collected 7,655 pounds of trash, and created $77,671.84 in revenue for Yosemite National Park. Thanks to their efforts, the 2005 Facelift was recognized with the conservation award from The Access Fund. Help us make the YCA Yosemite Facelift an even greater success this year!

Thursday night from 7-9pm at the El portal Elementary School, and Friday night 7-9pm at the East Auditorium behind the VC we will be hosting the Reel Rock Film Tour with Josh Lowell’s Dosage IV and Peter Mortimer’s First Ascent. For the grande finale, everyone participating in the event is invited to our reception dinner and raffle from 6-9pm on Sunday night. Celebrate our success with free food, beer, and wine!

If you have any other questions contact YCA president Ken Yager at yager@inreach.com or Climbing Ranger jesse_mcgahey@nps.gov.”
