Thanksgiving may be over but if you’ve still got bird on the brain we got something for you to do. Sunday December 14th is the 10th Christmas Bird Count. This annual even is celebrated all across the country by thousands of volunteers observing and counting birds in their area.
Since 1932, Yosemite has contributed over 90,000 observations to this fun conservation event. No expert birder experience necessary. There will be area leaders assigned that will be responsible for the final identification of the birds you spot.
Bring binoculars, lunch, plenty of warm clothes, sturdy shoes, and a $5 participation fee. Plan to be outside all day, from around dawn to dusk. The Annual Compilation Potluck Dinner will be at 5:30 pm in Yosemite Valley at the Girl’s Club (Library) where you can join the other birding groups in sharing bird highlights of the day.
