Still no word on missing Yosemite hiker, Katrin Lehmann. I put in a call to Scott Gediman to find out if there was any new information but his office has yet to call me back. As soon as I find out anything I’ll let you know. I’ve received a ton of emails from people expressing their concern. It’s always a tragedy when someone goes missing in someplace so beautiful.
If you have any information regarding this Ms. Lehmann you’re asked to please contact the Yosemite Criminal Investigations Unit at (209)372-0614 or the Yosemite Communications Center, 24 hours per day, at (209)379-1992.
Ms. Lehmann was last seen below the Vernal Fall footbridge at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009 before she slipped and fell into the Merced River. She is described as 31 years old, 6′ 0″, 150 lbs. with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a maroon rain jacket, dark blue pants, light green button-up shirt, lightweight hiking boots, a light blue backpack, and a dragonfly necklace.

My heart goes out to Katrin, her family and friends. I’m sure this is a difficult time for them all and it is such a tragedy. Unfortunately I think the author’s comment that “it’s a tragedy when someone goes missing in someplace so beautiful” is poorly worded as it makes it seem like the tragedy is for Yosemite rather than for her loved ones. It’s a tragedy when someone goes missing anywhere and at least we can be consoled that she is in a beautiful place.
I’m sorry you misunderstood my comment Sam/Sarah. It doesn’t read like that to me.
I had just pulled into the Valley Monday afternoon and set up camp at Lower Pines when a very strong thunder and lightening storm came through which lasted about two hours. It was during the storm that we heard sirens and a lot of park radio chatter about a missing person. The search crews and I’m sure the friends of Katrin unfortunately were very confused with the situation.
A friend of mine just informed me about this. I know Katrin from when we were students in Germany. HAS SHE BEEN FOUND YET ?
