Stephen Mather: First Director of the National Park Service

Stephen Mather has long been one of my favorite historical figures in Yosemite ranking right up there with Muir, LeConte and Galen Clark. As the first director of the National Park Service and lover of Yosemite his influence is felt even today in the park.
