Squaw Valley Hosting Presentation by Climbing Legend Royal Robbins

Here’s something not happening in Yosemite but it’s close enough if you’re in the area you should check it out. Famed Yosemite rock climbing pioneer Royal Robbins will be presenting “Out of Camp IV,” Tuesday, April 29th at 7 p.m. at the Olympic Village Lodge in Squaw Valley.

First Tracks!! Online Ski Magazine: “Robbins was one of the early pioneers of American rock climbing. Learning his skill at Tahquitz he moved on to put up many of the early Yosemite routes. A prolific writer, Robbins has written numerous books and influential magazine articles emphasizing a

philosophy of minimal climbing equipment and maximum climbing skill. He, along with Yvon Chouinard and others, was instrumental in changing the climbing culture of the late 1960s and early 1970s to minimize overall human impact on the vertical wilderness.”

The presentation is being put on by the Association of Professional Patrollers (Ski) and begins at 7 p.m. the 29th. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door (free for APP Members). For more nformation you can check out www.propatrollers.org.
