Tony wrote in to ask: “How much does an rv park cost per night? What are the best options in your opinion.”
Thanks for the email, Tony. I’m not really sure since I haven’t been RV camping since I was a kid but I believe it’s the same US$20 per night that tent camping is. If you don’t already have reservations though you might not be able to get something in the park. Lines start forming outside the first come, first served campgrounds at around 6:30 a.m. and by the time the office opens at 8 a.m. there are usually more people than spots available. We came through Tuolumne Meadows a few weeks ago hoping to get a spot and at 9 a.m. they were all gone already.
Depending on what you like/want in a campsite you could try camping at one of the Forest Service sites off Highway 120 or east of Yosemite in Lee Vining Canyon at one of the Mono County or Forest Service sites there. There are also some KOA campgrounds in Mariposa and some places like Yosemite Pines RV in Groveland. Both close enough to day trip if you have an extra vehicle.
You can find more information on fees and pricing for campsites at http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/nrcamping.htm
Hope that helps some. Have a great trip.
