The Railroad Fire is continuing to grow as firefighters work to protect the communities of Fish Camp, Sugar Pine, and Yosemite Mountain Ranch.
The Railroad Fire is now over 2100 acres and is continuing to spread north and east. Tenaya Lodge, Fishcamp, Sugar Pine and surrounding areas remain under an evacuation order.
Highway 41 from Cedar Valley Drive to the South Entrance of Yosemite National Park is closed. All sideroads in the area are closed. The Summerdale and Big Sandy Campgrounds on the Sierra National Forest are also closed.
Visitors to the area with lodging or accomodations should call before they travel to confirm their availability.
Concern is for firefighter safety as high heat and snags in steep terrain are hindering firefighting efforts. Temperatures are expected to remain above normal throughout the weekend with lower relative humidity levels dominating the area.
Yosemite visitors planning on traveling Highway 41 from Fresno/Madera, take Highway 49 North in Oakhurst to Highway 140 East in Mariposa and then into the park.
Glacier Point Road and Bridalveil Creek Campground remain closed due to fire suppression efforts on the Empire Fire.
Trails in the Wawona area remain closed due to fire suppression efforts on the South Fork Fire.
Smokey and hazy conditions exist within the park and may pose a hazard to those with pollution sensitivity, asthma or other breathing conditions.
