Sierra Star: Yosemite National Park officials are reminding the public that although water levels in the Merced River are dropping, river conditions are still unsafe outside of designated swimming and rafting areas. Visitors are asked to obey all posted signs and warnings. Swift water incidents, including rescues and injuries, have occurred when visitors have failed to obey posted signs and warnings.
Rafting in Yosemite Valley is open from Stoneman Bridge to Sentinel Beach only, and only under specified conditions. The Merced River and Tenaya Creek areas upstream from Stoneman Bridge (near Curry Village) are closed to all rafts and floating devices due to safety and resource concerns.
