Today’s Photo of the Day isn’t actually OF Yosemite but something that’s a part of Yosemite’s history, one of the old railway cars that used to bring visitors into the park.
Upshifts caption reads: “NILES CANYON, CA — The historic Yosemite Valley #330 Observation Car. Built in 1907, it is one of the more historic cars at this location and the only one there made of wood. It’s mahogany detail and fresnel lens marker lights make this a unique specimen.
A complete history including restoration photos on the “YV330” can be seen on it’s official site at: www.yv330.com/. You should see the “before” picture prior to restoration!”
Beautiful, beautiful shot Upshift. Very nicely done.

I remember riding in this car when it was here in Richmond CA before the rail museum moved to Niles. One of the cars on that train had a pot belly stove aboard. Is that this car? I’m going to go look at the restoration pictures Nice shot.
Real neat photo. Also swing by El Portal. Next to the Yosemite Assn World HQ is a passenger car (kaboose) and a locomotive.2 Water towers have also beenmoved there. They are also restoring the old turntable.
