Photo of the Day: Liberty Cap from Sierra Point by Calipidder

The view from Sierra Point by R. Sowards-Emmerd.

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from someone who I haven’t featured on Yosemite Blog before yet she loves and blogs about Yosemite as much as I do, Calipidder (aka R. Sowards-Emmerd).

The photo is shot from Sierra Point looking up at Vernal and Nevada Falls. For those not familiar with Sierra Point don’t go looking for the trail on a map, you probably won’t find it. After several rock slides covered part of the old trail the trail was closed and partly covered to discourage visitors. Those in the know can still find it but it can be a difficult trail for the novice hiker. The uniqueness of the view can make the trouble well worth it though. It’s definitely one of the ‘uncrowded’ spots. Just be careful.

Be sure to check out Calipidder.com. There’s lots of information on trails and hikes in and around yosemite, beautiful photographs and lots of great information and commentary. Also be sure to give her a follow on Twitter, @Calipidder.
