El Cap Guards the Valley

Today’s Photo of the Day is one of the awesome photos by Sheldon Branford from the Yosemite Blog Group on Flickr. Here’s what Sheldon had to say about his photo:

This image was taken at the time of the day when the experts tell you not to be shooting because the light is too harsh and contrasty.

But in a place like Yosemite, there is no bad time to shoot. You can almost always find something worth a visit through your camera’s lens no matter the time of day or weather conditions.

I love this shot of El Cap — from the nice color on its granite face, and shadow to the left, to the way colors of the meadow grasses, and the golden trees match that color, to the rich blue sky, and the fluffy cumulus clouds.

Great shot, Sheldon. Very nicely done.

Don’t forget, anyone is welcome to share their photos in our Flickr group. Photos shared in the group are often picked for Photo of the Day or shown along side a post on Yosemite Blog so it’s a great way to get your photos out there for people to see. Don’t forget, put the URL of your website in your portfolio and I’ll be sure to add the link to the post.
