Photo of the Day: Annular Solar Eclipse over Tuolumne Meadows by Kristal Leonard

Kristal Leonard made this very nice composite image of yesterdays’s eclipse from Tuolumne Meadows.

Kristal: I had one of my most challenging photo shoots ever today with the solar eclipse. Challenging because the difference in exposing for the land and exposing for the sun are so extreme. Also challenging because I didn’t have any special filters or equipment to balance those exposures. So, I did the next best thing and took one landscape shot and one eclipse shot and blended them together. I actually took about 50 eclipse shots, each about 2 minutes apart, and one of these days I will blend them all together for one magical photograph, but for now, I have this to show for today!

While the image may not be perfect, I like it none-the-less. And it was a beautiful day in Tuolumne Meadows to be out shooting. Nice work Kristal. Thanks for sharing.
