Now THAT’s(!) Art

I got an email the other day from Rachel Hartsough, Curator of Education at the Nevada Museum of Art, letting me know about a really cool exhibit they need pieces for.

In conjunction with our upcoming exhibit, Yosemite: Art of an American Icon (October 13, 2007-January 13, 2008), the NMA will create a giant photo wall blanketed with snapshots of Yosemite memories and experiences.

Raid your hard drives and old shoe boxes for your favorite photos. We want weddings, epic rock climbs, crazy road trips, teenage camping excursions, grandparents’ honeymoons, backpacking trips gone awry, romance, nostalgia; everything and anything that happened in Yosemite. We would love all snapshots, but are especially interested in those that may have been taken many years ago and show people, vehicles, clothing, etc. from other eras.

They are also accepting memorabilia from past years including: maps, small guidebooks, patches, pins, magnets, mugs, pendants, snowglobes, postcards, water containers, funny souvenirs, or anything that would be good in a display of Yosemite ephemera. If you’d like to contribute you can take your photos to the museum or mail them to the:

Nevada Museum of Art
160 West Liberty Street
Reno, NV 89501
Attn: Rachel Hartsough

You can also submit your photos electronically to: Hartsough@nevadaart.org

Photos will not be returned, but copies will be accepted. Be sure to include a brief description or short story about your photo.

For more information on the exhibit check out the Nevada Museum of Art website at: http://www.nevadaart.org/exhibitions/exhibition_display.php?id=90.

Thanks Rachel!
