New Yosemite stamp

Big doings at the park this Thursdy. If you happen to be there, go by the Post Office. It’s next to the Ansel Adam Gallery (near the Visitor Center). A new 42-cent First Class stamp will be rolled out at 10:30 am. If you have a letter to mom, you can get a first-day cancellation. The The new stamp will feature Albert Bierstadt’s 1864 painting “Valley of the Yosemite.” It was paintings like this that helped turn Yosemite into a National Park. It was in that same year that Abe Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant. Dignitaries at the event will include Yosemite’s Postmaster Bill Carroll, park Superintendent Mike Tollefson, Scott Gediman, Public Affairs Officer, and Kenny Karst, Public Relations Manager, DNC Parks and Resorts in Yosemite, Inc.  If you are not at the park, the Yosemite stamp will be on sale nationwide starting Thursday.
