Morning Shot July 27 2009 (It’s a short week!)

Today’s awesome Morning Shot provided by Ben Metcalfe.

Today’s Morning Shot is a beautiful shot of the Tufa at Mono Lake with the Sierra as the back drop. To me it sums up everything I think of when someone mentions Mono Lake. If you’ve never been there, it’s really worth the trip. It’s a couple hours east of San Francisco or about 30 minutes east of Yosemite National Park’s Tioga Pass Entrance. You can see more of Ben’s awesome photos by checking out his photostream on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dotben/. Beautiful shots, Ben.

Today’s Weather: Today is another scorcher in Yosemite. If you’re around the Valley expect the high to be in the 100s. Drink lots of water, wear sunblock and hike early if you’re going out.

If you’re looking for somewhere cooler, as always, head to the high country. Tuolumne Meadows is awesome this time of year and a part of Yosemite you don’t want to miss.

Surviving: Be sure to check out Tom Stienstra’s column about Theresa Ho (@simplytheresa) who 2 years ago survived a VERY close call after a boulder broke loose and rolled over her crushing her.

We’re all glad you made it, Theresa.
