Morning Shot – July 15 2009

Vogelsang HSC and peak by Edie Howe-Byrne

Today we’re featuring a beautiful shot by our friend Edie on the morning shot. Unlike some people who just hang out close to Yosemite Valley on their days off, Edie makes it a point to travel and see all areas of this beautiful park and then documents her travels over on her blog, Little Red Tent Blog.

Today’s Weather Forecast:
SUNNY AND HOT! High of 100F. Overnight low around 62F. Hot, dry expected conditions are expected to continue for at least the next week. Fire conditions are high.

Tip of the Day:
Bears in Yosemite will walk right up to your table or an open food locker and take your food. Always make sure your food is in your locker and the locker is closed at all times. Bears that become acclimated to human food will often stop foraging for food and could be put down if they become a danger to visitors.

Always make sure your food is properly stored.

Don’t Forget:
Be sure to check out some of the new and very beautiful photos in the Yosemite Blog Flickr Group Pool. You can find it at http://www.flickr.com/groups/yosemiteblog/pool. While you’re there sign up for a free Flickr account (or get a Pro account for $24/year) and add your photos to the pool.

FTW, that’s Vogelsang Peak. Its a 7 mile hike from Tuolumne Meadows Lodge with an elevation gain of about 2K’. It’s also mosquito hell right now, but blessedly cooler than the valley.
