Destruction after the 1996 Happy Isles rock slide. Photo courtesy Garry Hayes.
My good friend and former Geology Professor, Garry Hayes, was digging through a pile of slides in the Geology Department when he came across some from the 1996 Happy Isles rock slide. Garry posted a couple of the photos as well as a write up over on his blog, Geotripper which, by the way, is an AWESOME place to learn about the geology of the Sierra Nevada and geologic events taking place around the world.
