John Paul Chaufan Field, the hiker missing in the Kibbie Lake area of Yosemite National Park, has been found safe and is reported to be in good condition. Chaufan Field was spotted by the park’s contract helicopter at approximately 3:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon near Edith Lake, approximately five miles east of Kibbie Lake, the point where he was last seen.

John Paul Chaufan Field’s parents (Julian Field and Claudia Chaufan) will remain eternally grateful for the extraordinary effort of the Yosemite rescue team and the fabulous support provided to us by personnel at the University of California in Santa Cruz, all of which allowed us to have our son back, not only alive but in very good health.
