Mariposa Grove Road Opening for Season – No Word on Glacier Point or Tioga Pass

The Mariposa Grove Road in Yosemite National Park will open for the season Friday the 26th of March 26, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. The Mariposa Grove Road provides visitor access to the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, the largest grove of Giant Sequoia in Yosemite National Park.

Visitors are urged to drive with caution as snow and ice may still be present on the road. The Mariposa Grove Road may intermittently close due to weather conditions.

Commercial services and tram tours within the Mariposa Grove are not scheduled to open for some time later in the season.will open later in the season.

The Mariposa Grove Road is usually the first of the seasonal road closures (Tioga Pass, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove Road) to reopen every year. Although no time schedule has been released the Glacier Point Road normally opens for visitors in early May with the Tioga Road opening in mid-late May as weather conditions allow.
