When you think of Yosemite and fishing most people think of high mountain lakes, streams that wander through meadows and elusive trout. Not many people realize that many of the reservoirs around Yosemite hold not only trout, but huge catfish and trophy bass. Take for instance this monster landed by 20-year-old Kyle Gentry of Oakdale at New Melones Reservoir just off Highway 120 on the way to Yosemite.

The monster bass weighed in at 18.11 pounds, was 30 inches long and had a girth nearly as big (28 inches). Kyle was a gentleman and released the fish back where he caught her so she can have lots of baby monster bass.
