JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in Yosemite National Park’s Division of Business and Revenue Management, Special Park Uses Branch, Volunteer Office. You will also be responsible for providing technical direction and guidance about the VIP program to the divisional Volunteer Volunteer Coordinators VVC’s).

This position is permanent full-time. Additional positions may be filled from this announcement.

Area Information:  Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position.  Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13, 000 foot high peaks.

Positions are at various locations within Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno.  Shopping, dental, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Some position are located in isolated, backcountry wilderness settings.  Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet.  The park is open year-round with the majority of activities occurring during the busy season from March through October.

El Portal is a small community bordering the west-side of Yosemite National Park and 15 miles west of Yosemite Valley.

Housing Information:  Government housing (some with accommodations for the disabled within the park MAY be available on a bid basis.  Non-governmental housing may be available in the local communities of Groveland, Mariposa, Midpines, Bootjack, Catheys Valley and Oakhurst.
