A rockslide has closed the El Portal Road (Highway 140) into Yosemite Valley. The closure is in place from the park line to the Cascades picnic area where several large boulders are on the road.
Crews are working to blast and removed the boulders. An estimated time of reopening is unavailable at this time.
I think this image from the Fresno Bee says it all: http://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/t5kdc4/picture111717302/ALTERNATES/FREE_960/IMG_LEDE_Yosemite_Rockfa_16_1_H26S4G69_L186811736
It appears the photo from the Fresno Bee was actually from a DIFFERENT rockfall. Here’s an image of the rockfall that’s more accurate. Thanks Paul for pointing this out.
