Got a couple hours to spare? Been hanging out at the climbing gym and looking for a little more excitement? Maybe you should do what Alex Honnold did, free-soloed the 23 pitch Regular Northwest Face up Half Dome in a mere 2 hours and 50 minutes.
Alex scrambled up to the base of the 5.12a (when free climbed) route and began his ascent at 8 A.M. on September 6th carrying only chalk, a few energy bars and a small bottle of water in his pocket. Alex finished the climb and was on the summit before noon.
Alex told Alpinist Magazine, “It’s an awesome route…it’s bigger and more involved. And just doing the almost two-hour hike up a hill looking at the huge looming wall is a little intimidating. It’s rad.”
Yeah, no kidding. Awesome work Alex.
