As far as I’ve heard the Glacier Point road is still set to open tomorrow. The storm that’s expected this weekend is coming up from the south bringing with it warm, wet rain. No new snowfall is expected below 9000 feet so I don’t expect it’ll impact the road opening.
This type of storm generally causes an increase in snow melt so if you’re planning on doing any back country hiking or “messing around” by the rivers be extra careful. Heavy rains can cause flash flooding even when you think you’re in a relatively safe area. The Mirror Lake area has been known to flash flood in a matter of minutes with water several feet deep from one side of the canyon to the other. Please be conscious of where you’re at and what’s going on around you. Your head is your best safety device.

One response to “Glacier Point Road Opening Tomorrow and Weekend Storms”
The latest word from NPS (you can get updates on Twitter.com by following @YosemiteNPS) was that the road is unlikely to open today due to the coming storm. Some forecasts predict snow as low as 7000 feet.
The Twitter post says:
Glacier Point Road will not open on Friday due to incoming storm. New tentative opening date is May at noon, conditions permitting.

a later tweet adds that the date is May 4.
