Edie’s Image of the day: Bristlecone Clouds

Clouds over Grove of the Patriarch, White Mountains, CA. (Cross posted from Little Red Tent)

This image was captured in the White Mountains of California, east of the Sierra Nevada and Owens Valley.  The Grove of the Patriarch is in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, at an elevation of 11,000 feet.  As average mean temperatures rise, the bristlecone pine groves move higher.  Soon they will have no more place to go.  This is a relatively young grove, with the oldest trees only about 2000 years old.
