Expect Extra Heavy Traffic for Labor Day Weekend

It’s a simple fact that with the 3 fires, multiple road closures, and trail and campground closures, this Labor Day weekend may not be the best time to visit the park. Here are 5 things you can expect this Labor Day weekend.

  1. With the closure of Highway 41 other roads leading into the park will experience additional traffic and longer wait times to get into the park.

  2. Traffic will also be heavier on Yosemite Valley Roads as many destinations such as Glacier Point, the Wawona Grove and trails in the Wawona area are closed.

  3. Valley parking will also be heavily impacted.

  4. Hotels that normally have vacancy up until Friday night will also book earlier as guests who are displaced from the Tenaya Lodge or Fish Camp area look for alternative lodging. Campgrounds will likewise be full.

  5. Smokey and hazy conditions will continue throughout the weekend as higher temperatures, low wind and low humidity prevail.
