A lot of road work projects are currently underway in Yosemite Valley and with the quickly approaching winter months everyone should use a little extra caution while driving in the Valley.
NPS: “Over the next two days Northside Drive will close again for eastbound traffic and will close for westbound traffic at El Cap Crossover. Please keep an eye out for traffic control workers and new signage as we prepare the new routes.
The new westbound route out of the park will be Northside Drive to El Cap crossover – El Cap Crossover to Southside Drive and Southside Drive(westbound in two way traffic) to Highway 41 and Pohono Bridge (Highways 120 and 140).
Eastbound traffic into the Valley and to points west on Highway 41 will enter the Valley again on Southside Drive but be facing oncoming westbound traffic outbound on Southside Drive. Please use caution while getting used to this new route.
This means that there will be two way traffic into the Valley and out of the Valley from all highways all the way to El Cap Crossover which will be closed to northbound traffic. The only way to get to the El Cap area will be from Northside Drive after a full loop into the Valley (Sentinel Bridge) has been accomplished. There will be limited parking near the “El Cap Island” but access to the parking along meadow with vehicles will be blocked.
