Davis Enterprise: A body discovered Saturday morning in Yosemite National Park may be that of a missing UC Davis exchange student.
The National Park Service, which has led the investigation into the June disappearance of 25-year-old Hyun Do Ahn, was expected to issue a news release about the discovery later today.
However, a source close to the investigation confirmed this morning that a body had been found, but that “a legal identification has yet to be made.”
The body reportedly was found in Tenaya Canyon, northeast of the John Muir Trail, where Ahn embarked on a 13-day hike on June 20. He was reported missing a month later, on July 21, after he missed his scheduled flight home to South Korea.
National Park Service investigators have said Ahn apparently altered his hiking route, coming into contact with other hikers on June 22 near Merced Lake and June 25 at Cathedral Lakes. At that time, he apparently said he was headed toward the Sunrise area, east of Cathedral Lakes.
