Horsetail Fall, April 16th, 2012.
While February is the traditional month to photograph Horsetail Falls, and much has been written about the “natural firefall”, it’s good to keep in mind that this particular fall is photogenic whenever there is water flowing. It is the only fall in Yosemite that is not recessed into the granite walls, but juts out proudly into the valley. This allows for spectacular lighting in the late afternoon.

Beautiful shot ‘off season’ — good job! I’ll be arriving in the Valley for a few days’ camping/hiking/photography–maybe Horsetail will still be around!
The word ‘firewall’ needs to be corrected to “Firefall” –a watery look-like (when ‘ablaze’in orange-y light in Feb.) to the GP firefall of 44 years ago!

Edie, What an amazing event to be present for. We were on our way out of the park that evening and my wife looked up and said, “What’s that?!”. We immediately pulled over (safely) and looked up until our necks could not take it anymore. Our little G10 Canon did a nice job of at least giving us a picture to reference for that day, but your picture truly captured the moment well.
